Amy Schiffman, MD
Dr. Amy Schiffman is a board-certified Emergency Physician and the founder and president of Capital Coordinated Medicine.
Prior to medical school, Dr. Schiffman attended the University of Pennsylvania and went on to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences fellow. She received her medical degree from George Washington University in 2001 and after completing her residency in Emergency Medicine, went on to work as an Emergency Physician in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
Led by an enjoyment of geriatrics and a desire to advocate for an underserved population, Dr. Schiffman launched Capital House Calls in May 2011. She quickly hired additional providers and expanded the practice’s geographic reach to meet the growing demand for house call services.
“What began as a personal transition and a personal adventure has turned into a thing that is much bigger than me,” she says. “I didn’t realize the need until I started seeing patients in their homes.”
Dr. Schiffman is a member of the American Academy of Home Care Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians. A native of Durham, North Carolina, she lives in Bethesda with her husband Eric, an obstetrician, and their two children, Sarah and Simon. They enjoy traveling, including exploring the Chesapeake Bay by boat.
